Changing the Conversation

By a.ashrafi_2146 on

I was having a conversation a couple of days ago with the Chief of External Affairs at the National Interagency Fire Center. She was talking about requesting a budget increase to procure more tankers, aircraft, and helicopters so the center can respond to fire emergencies. We are talking about billions of dollars in capital asset expenditure. My response to her was that we need to change that conversation.
We should invest in these areas, so don't get me wrong, but that cannot be the only ongoing solution. That is so reactive. We should change the conversation from being reactive to proactive. We can save millions of hectares, wildlife, vegetation, forestry, and homes by enabling new technologies.
Through this forum, I am advocating dialogue with you all to hear how we can equip our First Responders and interagency with technology that will liberate them from continually fighting fires.

Thank you,

Amir
