The Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTFC), located in Solsona (Pre-
Pyrenees, 120 km from Barcelona), Spain, is seeking to appoint a post-doctoral researcher to

work within the Project H2020 FIRE-RES in following topics:
- Fire adaptation strategies in mountain forests.
- Factors driving resilient landscapes.
- Recommendations for sustainable fire management (including prescribed or let-it-burn
- Post-fire restoration.
- Silviculture and adaptive management for resilient stands and landscapes.


- The contract will start on March 2022 (start could be delayed if necessary). It is a full-time
position with a duration of 3.5-4 years (and with the possibility of contract extension).
- The researcher will be based at CTFC in Solsona (NE Spain) and will be enrolled as member
of the Multifunctional Forest Management Program.
- The candidate will be involved in the H2020 project FIRE-RES (tasks leaded by Dr. Pere
Casals, Dra. Míriam Piqué and Dr. Lluís Coll).
- Gross salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience (between 29,000-
33.000 €/year).

- Contribute to the design and development of the tasks of the project.
- Lead the development of the outputs and deliverables of the project in coordination with
task leaders.
- Lead the analysis of forest data and production of technical reports and scientific papers.
- Participate in the dissemination of results in scientific and technical meetings and
knowledge transfer activities.
- Participate in the project meetings.

- Master degree in Forestry, Environmental Sciences or related disciplines.
- A completed PhD on Forest Sciences and/or Forest Fires
- Capacity and experience in R+D projects and leading capacities.
- Capacity to conduct applied research and to prepare technical reports.
- Demonstrated computer skills in GIS and database management.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of advanced statistical packages in R.
- Proved experience in writing scientific manuscripts and a track record of publications in high
international journals.
- Fluent Spanish.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language.

− Teamwork capability.
− Capacity in knowledge-transfer activities and technical-scientific dissemination.
− Enthusiasm to conduct field work and to travel to project meetings and international
− Proficiency in Catalan.
− Driving licence (class B).

The selection process will be led by Dr. Pere Casals, Dra. Míriam Piqué and Dr. Lluís Coll from the
Multifunctional Forest Management Program, and will be overseen by the Management Office
and the Human Resources Area of CTFC. This process consists of:
1. Admission of candidates: applicants must submit their application in a single pdf-file,
